After much speculation regarding cast and plot of the movie, Sex and the City 2 is finally here.

With a budget of USD $95 million one thing that we can be sure of is that their outfits will be fabulous!

While we wait with bated breath to see what fashionable adventures the girls have been on, lets take a moment to remember where it all started.

It was 1998 and the girls were at a birthday party for Miranda, they vowed to stop looking for the ‘perfect’ man and concentrate on having fun.

Luckily for us, their quest did not end there, and here at Thinpurse we’ve found some dresses at ASOS that remind us of the old times in Manhattan (without the Village price tag).

Lyle & Scott are very consistent in creating easily wearable and stylish street fashion but they still keep their designs simple and that’s why they are still cool season after season. This yellow crew neck t-shirt is a good example of  the understated edginess which Lyle & Scott are known for. I like this t-shirt because it has been cut in a way which lets it hang loose on the body and it can be worn with jeans or shorts.  Priced at a very tempting £35 from Asos it’s not going to make a big dent in his bank balance.

I’ve also picked out this unisex pacific blue tie which is a nice surprise from American Apparel because it is usually known for its t-shirts, hoodies, lycra and casual wear. Smarten your man up with this simple tie which is great for the office and will make him look a little bit more ‘conservative’ but not in a David Cameron kind of way!

Pick your favourite for your man to show your political pride, or put em together to cause a little stir!

A personal favourite from this year’s trends of the season, sheer pastels are fresh off the runway as the fun and flirty pieces we’ve come to love for our garden party go-to. This summer, designers have led the way in showing off frisky twists on looks reminiscent of the traditional English tea dress. Of course, classic florals are still a much loved (need I also say timeless?) summer venture.

Luckily for us, Topshop boasts a selection of sweet summer dresses to suit our needs.  Pieces like this sheer forest flower dress and seamed drop hem dress are guaranteed a compliment or two.

Jeans and chambray shirts are all the rage..but if I want to make a smart investment and rock denim right through to the height of summer, I’m going to have to go shorter. This may just be the year I find myself in a pair of cut-offs.

I know, I know, I’m little late to the trend, but you have to admit there’s something a little daunting about baring all in a pair of what are, for all intents and purposes; hotpants.

In my head, the thought of cut-offs conjures up an image of Jessica Simpson stomping around with a tray of beers, and I’m not sure my butt in those shorts will have quite the same effect.

So what’s the deal with cut-offs? Can I get away with a little bit of modesty – or is it simply booty or bust?

Just chop the legs off a pair of jeans you don’t wear any more. This is a great way to update a pair of flares you’re not going to wear anymore, because, well, they’re flares.
