As summer gets well underway the designers are starting to prepare their collections for next year and the build up to London Fashion week in September is upon us. So what shall I buy for next season I hear you ask? Well, a hat of course!

I really like this Helen Berman Pleated Flower Fascinator which is available from Urban Outfitters for £59. This would look great with some red lipstick, your hair in a bun or chignon and a retro outfit.

Or go for another kind of vintage look with this bowler hat which is a snip at only £20 from Asos.com! It can go with a boho girly dress or blouse and high waisted skirt or you can also work an androgynous look with a jacket and jeans combination.

I have also picked out this black wool floppy hat to keep the sun or rain off your precious locks. I like the brim on this hat and it is great for long hair and allows you to work a casual effortless look without trying too hard.

For those of you who are millinery enthusiasts, check out Stephen Jones’ website. If you managed to catch his exhibition at the V&A last year then you will be familiar with his work, he is truly one of the greatest hat makers from the UK – perfect for inspiration!

Despite the summer sun featuring quite consistently in our weekends at the moment, there are some days when you feel Autumn’s breeze come a knockin’.

So let’s take a lesson from Robert Baden-Powell and help our men ‘Be Prepared’, with some of these transitional pieces from Uniqlo and Burtons.

Uniqlo has a bunch of weird and wonderful t-shirts for hot summer days and cooler times when teamed with a sleek leather jacket or a bit of messy denim.

This black M v-neck t-shirt is a great representation of a classic character and is currently reduced from £12.99 to £7.99.

For those of you who have men with slightly more obscure taste in animation this white manga/anime print tee is the perfect statement; and the price for the nearsighted genius Dr Slump Arale has also been reduced to £7.99.

Burton is offering some cosier pieces with the coming season in mind such as this grey/red check hooded shirt for £32. The hood adds a bit of a casual vibe to an altogether versatile shirt.

If your man prefers to layer up with some simple jumpers then take a look at this Oxford blue cotton rich jumper (£20), which is part of a deal offering a mix of casual shirts, jumpers and denim – two for £36.

Now there’s no excuse for leaving your man high and dry when those summer thunderstorms come in or the sun starts to go back into hiding. An important thing to keep in mind as well is that new hoodies and shirts for him, means more mix and match options for you!

Now that the summer is finally in full swing (cough), so are the sales, and they are not to be missed!

But rather than have you rummaging through the stocks and missing out on all the summer fun; we have picked out the best places to go for dresses, sandals and summer loving hats online.

Starting at the top; ASOS have a wonderful selection of hats in their big summer sale which not only has savings of 70% but an extra 10% off when you use this voucher code at checkout: ‘ASOSTreats’.

This floral print floppy hat is travel friendly, reduced to £10 and will help to prevent you suffering from Rudolph (the red-nosed reindeer) syndrome! Our other pick from ASOS offers a bit less in sun protection but a whole load more in style. This spot trim bunny ears fascinator has been reduced to £7 and is certainly not your average headwear.

Dorothy Perkins has a great selection of dresses and a sale bringing you up to 70% off. These two day dresses are bright and breezy with some on trend stripes to keep you looking extra hot. This yellow and white wide stripe dress with a deep v-neck detail and a tie waist belt is perfect for curvier figures and has been reduced to just £19.

Another DP offering is this Vero Moda grey stripe dress, just £12, which is great for the office as well as more casual occasions.

As for your feet there is a nicely varied offering from the sale at Office including some unusual sandal / boot hybrids, in tan leather reduced to £51. For the more conservative among you check out the simple brown and gold minimalist sandals reduced to £38.25.

So with these top tips you can quickly get the best for your money and knock up a new outfit for all those impromptu BBQ invites flying through your letter-box.

An antique can be defined as an old collectible item, which is often made desirable by its age, beauty, rarity, condition or many other unique features.

If you enjoy browsing such things at your leisure or are looking out for something in particular head down to Old Spitalfields Market on Thursday 22nd of July. Here you will find a diverse array of one off pieces of art, vintage fashion, jewellery and many more miscellaneous beauties.

Whatever you’re looking for there’s probably one kicking about the stalls – maybe even a coal holding bedpan or other night-time accessories to go with your new bedroom attire!

Here at Thinpurse we like to be thorough so in case you are otherwise engaged on Thursday fear not as there are plenty of vintage goodies to buy on the net as well, and below are some of our picks.

Taking vintage back to the times of Robin Hood and his merry men is this large leather purse belt from Topshop for £32. Which is perfect for festival goers and those of you who love the hands free revolution.

These fancy frill lace gloves show the more aesthetically pleasing side of vintage and can be obtained from New Look for just £4 in black, grey or sophisticated off-white.

Last but not least and a bit more retro than vintage, this Wonder Woman t-shirt is a fantastic find for those of you who like to reminisce. It’s from Yukka and is currently reduced to £14.

So whether you pop down to Spitalfields or grab one of these old time pieces let’s all take a step back in time and get in touch with our youth – or ancestors!

Although we can’t look our best all the time, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t give it a go.

So let’s talk about nightwear.

Just because it’s dark and we will spend most of the time in varying levels of unconsciousness, there’s no reason to forget about fashion when you snuggle up in bed.

After all, locking yourself out of the house while grabbing the paper, dressed in tatty shorts and your ex-boyfriend’s stained t-shirt is not a good look for anyone.

So, here’s a range of summery night pieces to keep you looking great at your next surprise sleepover or retro pyjama party.

Lets start with a little bit of romance; this ruffle cup baby doll nightie from Charlotte & Co (£89) is flirty and feminine making it perfect for a blossoming romance or revitalising an old one.

This Angelica baby doll from Myla, currently reduced to £59 is a cute floaty option and the silk satin will help to cool your skin on those hot summer nights.

Getting a bit more basic we have this satin spot chemise from Oasis, which has been reduced to £20 and is made for comfort with the bow detail and rouched straps adding a splash of style.

Finally this Emmaline printed cotton nightshirt is perfect for those of you who love everything vintage and have a lot of style. You can get it from Bhs for the reduced price of £12.80.

Maybe if you wear this you’ll finally be able to pull off using that beautiful coal filled bed warmer that’s hanging around, or pick one up at a bargain charity shop.

With such a diverse array of nightwear on offer and soon to be in our closets, maybe we will finally stop having that naked at work nightmare!

When you venture online for a little shopping, sometimes you can get stuck trawling the same old sites, just because you don’t know where else to look!

Well, the Thinpurse girls have been doing some digging and have found ten awesome online shops you’re probably missing out on. Make sure you check out these sites next time your Thinpurse is feeling full!

1. People Tree

People Tree is full of Fair Trade fashion with a conscience, and unique styles you won’t see elsewhere. Right now, their sale means that it’s way affordable to buy well for the world, and this Willow Dress, now £40, is just gorgeous.

2. Anna Lou of London

This store is a treasure trove for colourful, fun and cute jewellery. With simple letter, charm and enamel necklaces, it’s the place to be for a unique gift for someone else, or yourself! We’re swooning over the Envelope Necklace, £20, with it’s tiny, dainty details!

3. Full Circle

Full Circle is trend-tastic with styles that look like they came right off a designer’s dummy. Even better than usual, for girls of the Thinpurse ilk, the sale means prices are slashed to a shadow of their former selves. The silk Deanne Bustier Dress has been marked down from £120 to £36!

4. Donna Ida

If you’re looking for designer denim, the Donna Ida sale page is the spot to hit right this second – you’ll see Siwy, Current/Elliott, Stella McCartney and Superfine, all heavily reduced. Donna Ida always keeps it simple, with just denim, tops and accessories, for laid back girls with a taste for designer. If you’re in the market for jeans, make a stop here, just in case they’re in sale and grab yourself a deal!

5. Projects Clothing

Projects is an electic collection of edgy brands for people looking to break out of the norm! Projects has labels like Religion, Energie, Miss Sixty and Motel and their prices are resonable, especially in their sale section. We found this flattering Numph Teddie Black Jumper Dress for £29 – perfect to prepare for colder days ahead.

6. Priceless Shoes

Cheap shoes? You got it. Priceless offers *ridiculously* inexpensive styles, covering all the latest looks. Even if their prices weren’t already low enough; their sale, on now, has reduced many pairs to £10 and below. I found these red Peep Toe Patent Gladiator heels for just £10!

7. Bunnyhug.com

Designer clothes at prices within our reach? We like! Bunyhug has only the coolest designer brands with serious celeb cred, and the prices are somewhat approachable. But their sale section is definitely somewhere to get excited. We’ve spotted some amazing steals in there, like the fabulous House of Harlow White Leather and Crystal Stone Cocktail Ring, now £43.80.

Here at Thinpurse we aim to give you the best fashion tips and advice. We are prepared to go the extra mile (or thousand) to ensure that you are on trend wherever you go. So here are some tips that I picked up last week in Hong Kong.

With a population of 7 million you have to go big if you want to standout in Hong Kong; despite this the beautiful woman of HK like to maintain their dignity and perfect skin with the help of umbrellas and lace.

With the hot and humid climate in Hong Kong trends must coordinate with the weatherman and there are plenty of styles back here in the UK to keep you looking and feeling cool too.

Starting simple we have this Miso Lace Blouse from Republic for just £19.99. The delicate piping and lace detail help to elongate your figure whilst the back-tying bow will pull in your waist giving a feminine and summery look.

This sheer ruffle tunic from Oli costing £33 offers you a way to cover up without overheating, the front ruffle and cute bow bringing a vintage vibe to a simple piece.

As well as sophisticated lace items, many draped pieces featured in Hong Kong, like this multi Mirjam Nitramorse print top from my-wardrobe.com. It’s a bit pricey at £165 but is a versatile piece and can be worn to dress up to dress down.

This final piece is my particular favourite, a waistcoat from All Saints that costs £47.50. It has an interesting cut and beautiful detailing making it elegant and lovely like many of the women living and working in Hong Kong.

So even though east is east and we are west why not bring an oriental twist to your wardrobe and embrace your inner grace.

Can I just start by saying; this product costs £1.99. Keep that in mind for the rest of the post.

My hair has been pretty woeful of late. Dealing with the harsh water of London and the sizzling heat of my styling irons every single day, it finally started to give up. It was dry as a haystack, frizzy and lifeless, and breaking off at the ends from the stress of it all.

I tried product after product, until one day, I knew I had to cut it off. There was no hope for it.

The next day, with hair inches shorter than before, I vowed to take better care of my locks, and to avoid straightening and curling first and foremost. According to my hairdresser, my hair’s biggest issue was dryness, and it needed to be dealt with if I wanted a better future for my strands.

I started trying new products, taking care of my hair with limited heat styling. But nothing could quench my hair’s thirst – no matter how many moisturising qualities it promised on the bottle. Sure, I never went over £20 for a product – remember, we’re working with a Thinpurse here girls – but I knew I didn’t need to – I was sure there’d be something cheap and cheerful that did the job.

And…I found it.

You might have spotted the box before on the bottom shelf of your local Boots store. But it probably didn’t grab your attention among the hundreds of other beautifully designed and colourful bottles. But it’s the thing that works for me; and I’m about to buy it up in bucket loads!

I credit Vitapointe Leave In Conditioner with bringing my hair back to life!

It’s a dowdy looking product, that was originally made for salons, for hairdressers to apply before processing, but it’s a wonder for adding moisture back to already dried out hair.

It’s a very thick product – not the kind of thing I’d usually run through my dry hair (even though that’s what they suggest). It’s heavy, and can give you a slightly greasy look if you use too much. Just a drop is fine!

After washing, I dry my hair a little, then massage the product through the areas that need it most (usually just the tips).

It works beautifully if you blow dry it out from there; it feels like the heat helps it to penetrate the hair shaft further, giving you an amazing result.

I swear by Vitapointe – it’s now one of the most important items in my hair and beauty repertoire. My hair is softer, shinier and healthier looking whenever I use it.

At £1.99 – there’s nothing to lose!

On the hunt for a gentler, more natural product to cleanse my face with everyday, I came across the REN Mayblossom Cleansing Gel, £16.50 at LookFantastic.com (150ml).

I had never used a REN product before, but I’d definitely seen their name before, and I knew them immediately to be a natural, kind-to-your-skin kind of brand.

With a mix of dry and oily areas, I decided to try out this option for combination skin, to bring some balance back to my life!

It claims to gently dissolve excess oil, and remove impurities, reduce pore size, and prevent spots. But the real draw for me was the sulfate-free formula, filled with lovely ingredients, such as willow bark and Australian blue cypress oil.

It smells amazing; fresh and flowery, and a little gel goes a long way. You feel like you need a lot as it doesn’t really foam, but it’s not necessary to give yourself more than one pump from the easy dispenser.

Having come from harsher products, I’m used to a more ‘cleaner’ feeling after I cleanse. This is very gentle, but it’s so gentle you might feel like you have to clease twice, or follow up with a scrub. I’m not sure it’s needed – just a mindset to get out of!

I’m not sure I would buy this cleanser again, probably just because I’m too tempted to try out the rest of their range!

I definitely like the look of deeper cleansing products, such as the Jojoba Microbead Purifying Facial Scrub, £17.50, and the Pore Minimising Detox Mask, £17.50.

I spent a little time in the USA last week, and I’ve had a taste of American fashion at its finest; from the streets of New York, to the everyday style in middle-America.

Everyone’s in short shorts

Legs are the new black – you better pray that your pre-summer squat and lunge regime has paid off!
The US girls are getting their tanned gams out, in the shortest of short denim cutoffs, and if you’ve got the guts, you can follow suit in a set of these:

These Bleach Frayed Hotpants, £25, are just the ticket for boho looks from Topshop; while the Stud Distressed Mini Shorts, now £15 from Dorothy Perkins are a little bit rock and roll, with an Americana flavour.

And *everyone* has their pockets out. It’s the ‘beyond distressed’ look – where it appears your shorts are actually falling apart. And the Soul Cal Deluxe Ripped Hotpants, £24.99, from Republic definitely have the look going on! They’re only available in size 14, so if that’s you – get in quick!

Wedges are the way to go

If there’s one thing New York is rocking right now – it’s the wedge! Seriously, if Carrie was strutting the streets, it’s what she’d be wearing!

We’re talking a classed-up wedge – without a platform heel, sleek and skinny is the look. I’ve found a little treasure trove at ASOS:

These Randal Buckle Wedges in black are just tough enough to work with pretty layers for summer days, and they’re a resonable £40.

The Bertie Stockholm Wedge Strappy Sandal at £75 is a little more pricey, but totally classic, so you’ll wear them ’til they’re worn out.

And for a pair that’s a little more expensive, but is undeniably cool – you can’t go past the Pace Buckle Wedges, £135 at Topshop.

And the last shot is a pair I spotted in an Aldo store in the US..but I can’t find on the website. Let me know if you spot them somewhere, I’m having major regret – I should have snapped them up when I saw them!

Other trends I spotted in America

Handkerchief dresses are everywhere, and they look gorgeous! Who knew they’d make a return?

Headbands. Apparently they’re still cool.
