In Sainsbury’s the other day, as I was waiting in the queue, a man caught my eye.

A regular, good-looking guy, (the kind that would generally catch my eye) but there was something different about this one.

Decked out in jeans, flip-flops, a shocking red and yellow tee paired with bright shades and a statement red watch – this guy was a show-stopper.

It made me wonder why men don’t wear bright colours more often. Sure – there are plenty of guys out there dressed up to the nines every day of the week, but I feel like this trend could translate to the everyday man as well.

If you think your man could benefit from some new items enabling him to keep up with your fashionista ways, then summer is the perfect time to encourage him to have some fun with colour for a change.

A great idea for men that want to add some colour to their look right now is the addition of a statement item, accessory or clothing.

This will make their outfit pop allowing them to stand out and bring some summery cheer without looking like Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat!

At Oki-ni there is a fantastic range of stand out items, some more garish than others… and below are some of our picks from the collection.

I love love love these classic Timex watches (£50), which bring a real 80’s neon vibe to any wrist and look uber cool. There are eight colours to choose from and I think that one of these will brighten your man’s mood and wardrobe.

Another great colourful accessory are these Illesteva Leonard sunglasses (£125). Although they are a bit pricey, the round frame will help to bring a Cuban feel to an outfit and get this man in the mood for some Cuba Libre’s and fun in the sun.

These Acne Agra sandals (£165) are a bit darker but I think the style would really draw your eye and they look extremely comfy!

Finally for a bit of comedy value, I had to add this wonderful Knit (£60) into the collection. It is definitely reminiscent of Joseph’s Technicolor Dreamcoat but I do think it’s rather wonderful. Can be worn ironically or enthusiastically – either way an impression is bound to be made!

So let us not worry about who can wear what and encourage the man in your life to stand out and be counted because well… why not?!
