New Giles Deacon at New Look

Giles Deacon has just unleashed his latest ‘Gold’  collection at New Look – so let’s take a look at the goods!sdgsd

The Sequin Vest, £35, is a fairly basic piece. big on sparkles, but pretty low on any kind of artistic flair. The only redeeming factor of this glorified vest is the sequin encrusted racer back style, which I’ve yet to see this season.

If you’re expecting anything amazing from the Zip Ankle Leggings; don’t. They’re obviously an afterthought in an otherwise pantsless collection, and a £16 cop out that I’m sure you could live without.

The cut of the Tiger Eye Vest is basic stuff; it’s the print that will get you hooked. There’s metallic and stud embellishments, and the design is quite literally, fierce. It’s £30, with size 6 already sold out.

Now – the Pointed Stud Dress. Not digging the quilted satin sides for a start. They look cheap; and you should expect more for the £55 price tag.

At mid-thigh length, with a high neck, it’s not going to win any points for sex appeal, but the shoulder embellishments are on trend. That’s all it’s got going for it – therefore, not a good investment. The kind of piece you’ll wear twice and get tired of.

At £35, the Gem Shoulder Cardigan is cute, and would be a great addition to your working wardrobe. The half sleeves means it’s not going to be super practical for the season, and a slightly wrong fit could end badly with the hook fasten front. regergerg

Finally, something I can get into…and it’s the most expensive piece of the collection, at £75. The Sequin Gem Dress is a short black shift dress that would easily go to battle with your current LBD choices.

It’s tough, a little bit rock chick, with the chevron pattern embellishments that lead the eye to all the right places and the exposed back zip. This dress is right on trend, but you could work it for seasons to come by changing up your accessories.

Right now, I’d go with ankle boots, a chunky cuff and a confident smirk. Watch the fit; the polyester blend could cling if you go for a size too tight.

Now, last, and probably least. Don’t buy the Sequin Cardigan. Just don’t.

It looks like something you’ve spent hours bedazzling in your basement, and you’re just wearing because you spent so much time on it you can’t really bear to tuck it away in the back of your wardrobe. It’s overpriced at £45. ‘Nuf said.
